Hole in one at The Open championship St. George's!

Tom Watson
It was a glorious second day at St. George's Open Championship.  We arrived at Kent at 6:30 a.m. in time to catch the first flight.  Traffic had been insane the day before as all roads leading to the Open championship were packed.  The highlight of the day was Tom Watson's hole in one at the 6th hole.  This was 61 year old Tom's first ace in an Open Championship and 14th in total.

There were lots of tense moments. It was crazy watching all these golfing idols up close and realizing how tough it must be to stay focused hole after hole after hole.  They are human after all....  Lee Westwood, Grame McDowell, Ben Curtis, Ian Poulter are just  some of the players who had it rough today and did not make the cut.

Meanwhile, the young amateur Tom Lewis was just pure talent ending at -1 under par today when the more experienced players were shooting 10 over par.  Such is golf.

Rory McIlroy was amazing on the 18th hole.  His ball was buried deep  in the treacherous St. George bunker and managed to still get it close to the flag to save par.  He ended the day with 1 under par.

Ricky Fowler was steady all the way despite increasing winds in the back 9 to end at even par.

Darren Clarke
Martin Kaymer
Darren Clarke, Martin Kaymer  and the Spanish contingent Miguel Jimenez and Sergio Garcio were also some of the crowd favorites who I hope will do well in the next couple of days.

By the way, before you go off for golf this weekend, don't forget to stretch....  take it from Angel Jimenez who was seen doing his warm up stretches at the practice grounds.
